FAQ

The questions teachers ask first.

Everything from how tiles work to how we handle student data — answered.

Getting Started

What's a tile?+

A tile is one interactive screen in your lesson — a multiple-choice question, a drag-and-drop, a flip card, an audio prompt. Stack tiles to make a lesson. Each one responds, scores, or captures something from the student.

How is this different from a slideshow?+

Slides display. Tiles respond. Each tile flips, drags, scores, spins, times — and reports a live result back to you. A lesson is an interactive practice activity, not a deck of pictures.

What ages is this for?+

LearnTiles works beautifully from pre-K through middle school, with the strongest fit in K-5. The studio is also widely used by ESL instructors teaching adults and by tutors working one-on-one with any age.

Does it work on iPad?+

Yes — including authoring. Drag-and-drop, image upload, multi-touch, and audio playback all work in Safari and Chrome on iPad. Add it to the home screen and it runs full-screen.

Building lessons

How long does it take to build a lesson?+

Most teachers ship their first lesson in under 15 minutes. Drag a tile in, type your prompt, drop in an image or upload audio, repeat. Paste-to-deck and remixing make it even faster.

Can multiple teachers collaborate on a lesson?+

Real-time co-editing is on the roadmap. For now, you can duplicate any lesson, share editable copies, and remix from a teammate's work. The Pro plan unlocks up to 5 collaborator seats with shared lessons.

Can I import lessons from another platform?+

Not yet, but it's on our roadmap. We're working on importers for the most-requested formats. In the meantime, our template library and remixing tools make it fast to rebuild your best lessons.

Sharing & students

Do my students need accounts?+

No. Share a link, students click it, they play. You see live results as they go. If you want rostering and per-student progress across multiple lessons, that's available on the Pro plan.

How do you handle student data and privacy?+

We're working toward formal FERPA + COPPA alignment and SOC 2 Type 1 (Type 2 in progress). We never sell student data. Class rosters live in your account only — students don't need their own logins.

Can I export my lessons?+

Yes. The lessons you build are yours — share them with anyone, on any plan. Cancel any time and your decks stay in your account. Pro reports can be exported as CSV.

Pricing

Is there a free version forever?+

Yes. The Free plan never expires and includes core text, question, drag, and game tiles for unlimited public lessons. Upgrade when you need private lessons, media/file tiles, recordings, named students, saved reports, or CSV exports.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. Cancel in one click from your account settings. You keep access until the end of your billing period, and your lessons stay accessible on the free tier afterward.

Do you offer school or district pricing?+

Yes. Volume discounts and centralized billing for schools and districts. Email hello@learntiles.com and we'll set you up.

Account

Is there a mobile app?+

There's no separate App Store download — that's the point. Students open a link, the lesson plays. If you want a home-screen icon, install LearnTiles as a PWA in two taps . Same code, same speed, fewer hoops.
